That’s right, you can actually get service on your iPhone for just $39.99 a month. I know because when I called to cancel mine and complained about how slow the Edge network was, they offered to remove internet service from my plan in exchange for a $20 per month reduction in my bill. Under this cheaper plan you still get 450 anytime minutes, 5000 night/weekend minutes, free mobile-to-mobile, rollover minutes, you can still use the internet features over WiFi and you don’t have to pay an extra $20 a month for the privilege of enduring worse than dial-up speeds over AT&T’s Edge service. Gidde-up!

Step by step instructions:

  1. Call customer service at 1-800-331-0500 to cancel your service.
  2. Enter your mobile phone number.
  3. Press 0 for other issues.
  4. Press 5 to close an account.
  5. Tell the customer service representative that you want to cancel your service because the Edge network is too slow.
  6. If they don’t offer to remove the internet service, ask them to remove it and make sure they tell you what your bill and features will be like without it.
  7. Enjoy paying 33% less per month for your plan!

Notes: $39.99 per month does not include all the fees and taxes they tack on to your bill every month no matter what plan you have; the standard ones will run your bill up about $8 a month. Visual voicemail is not included, and it’s a real shame that it isn’t; the voicemail button just calls your voicemail. Also, SMS messages are not included with the reduced plan. You can either pay 25 cents per message or a fixed amount per month to get a bundle of SMS messages included with your plan. You can also have SMS completely disabled if you don’t want to use it.
