How to Get iPhone Service for Only $39.99 per Month
July 16th, 2007
That’s right, you can actually get service on your iPhone for just $39.99 a month. I know because when I called to cancel mine and complained about how slow the Edge network was, they offered to remove internet service from my plan in exchange for a $20 per month reduction in my bill. Under this cheaper plan you still get 450 anytime minutes, 5000 night/weekend minutes, free mobile-to-mobile, rollover minutes, you can still use the internet features over WiFi and you don’t have to pay an extra $20 a month for the privilege of enduring worse than dial-up speeds over AT&T’s Edge service. Gidde-up!
Step by step instructions:
- Call customer service at 1-800-331-0500 to cancel your service.
- Enter your mobile phone number.
- Press 0 for other issues.
- Press 5 to close an account.
- Tell the customer service representative that you want to cancel your service because the Edge network is too slow.
- If they don’t offer to remove the internet service, ask them to remove it and make sure they tell you what your bill and features will be like without it.
- Enjoy paying 33% less per month for your plan!
Notes: $39.99 per month does not include all the fees and taxes they tack on to your bill every month no matter what plan you have; the standard ones will run your bill up about $8 a month. Visual voicemail is not included, and it’s a real shame that it isn’t; the voicemail button just calls your voicemail. Also, SMS messages are not included with the reduced plan. You can either pay 25 cents per message or a fixed amount per month to get a bundle of SMS messages included with your plan. You can also have SMS completely disabled if you don’t want to use it.
